It was forecast to be a rainy day today so we decided to head inland and hunt down some waterfalls. There are some said-to-be-stunning falls near to us, but with a 3 and 1 year old in tow, walking distance and the track quality dictated where we could easily go.
Omeru Falls is a 25 minute drive from our house and only a 10 minute walk from the reserve entrance to the falls so perfect! It was a lovely spot, perfect picnic territory. Loads of the local kids were heading to the bigger Falls for a Sunday swim!
There are a series of three waterfalls – Omeru Falls, Waitangi Falls and Waitangi Stream Cascade, which is in Omeru Pā Scenic Reserve on the east side of the Kaipara Coast Highway between Kaukapakapa and the Makarau River. We only got to two of the Falls – we’ll have to save the other one for another day!
