Birds at Sullivan Bay

I’m quite fascinated by the New Zealand bird life – my favourites so far are Fantails and Tuis. We’ve been spending so much time on the beaches it’s great to see more than just sea gulls.

Today’s beach, Sullivan Bay at Mahurangi was home to a flock of Oystercatchers and a tiny Sandpiper. Unfortunately he was too small to get any decent photos of, but the Oyster Catchers were a bit more obliging. Lots of them had only one leg and were hopping along the beach. A few stopped to pose for me…
