Winter Flowers and ‘our estuary’

The Pohutakawa flower is a beautiful thing that we quickly learned is the Christmas flower in New Zealand. In December these pretty red blossoms fill the trees and decorates New Zealand for Christmas.

This little guy was about 5 months early – he’d found a sunny spot on the estuary.

One of the things I love about New Zealand is that even in the depths of winter we can still have beautiful warm sunny blue sky days. Just like this one… end of June but my walk was warm and short sleeve t-shirt worthy. Not like this every day mind… 😉
